The Capuchin Poor Clare’s lived at Our Lady of Light Monastery in Denver, Colorado. As Poor Clares they were founded in 1212 by St. Clare and St. Francis of Assisi. As a distinct group they began in Naples, Italy in 1538 when Venerable Maria Laurentia Longo and other women professed the rule of St. Clare and embraced the then-new Capuchin reform movement started among their male counterparts, the Capuchin Friars Minor, so as to return to the original ideals of the Saints from Assisi.
